Our time in the tents is nearing an end. I'm going to miss it up here. As I write the rain is pelting the canvas making it almost unbearable to sleep...but we do. We all do. We've gotten used to it. HA! In fact the kids are all asleep. I'm in my tent cozy with a fire after a yummy dinner of instant pot enchiladas and Nate is quietly reading the latest Brandon Sanderson book. Don't ask new which book. I'm guessing it must be amazing because he said I'm in charge of waking everyone up in the morning. He'll probably read until the wee hours... and he should. He has been working harder than I've ever seen him work before. His job on there new house is almost done. Crazy to think we broke ground just a mere five months ago. This has been quite the journey so far! He's been absolutely destroying it when it comes to deadlines and progress. I have always know he was talented but I had no idea he had all these skills. He's proving himself. He's doing it for us but also for Mom. I haven't written much over the last few months because frankly I haven't wanted to. It's almost as if I didn't write it then maybe it isn't true! Grandma Mary hasn't been feeling well for quite some time. She never wants to bother anyone so she'd always shrug our concerns away. It got so bad in September that I was going to call an ambulance for her when I got back from dropping off Georgia at preschool. When I got back she was on the phone with her doctor and that's when it all started. Tests, doctors, specialists. Mom's neuroendocrine turmors had metastasized. He lymph nodes are swollen. Her cancer is stage 4. Words I can't quite swallow. We are still waiting, nearly two months later, for a clear path for treatment. In the mean time we've been sending nearly ever waking hour loving on her and making life grand. She goes on errands with me nearing every day.
Crazy to think it's been 20 years since we said our vows on that stormy rainy day in March. This year we had plans to get a hotel in Lynnwood and galavant around Seattle for a few days. We ended up going to Herb Niemans on our anniversary, then to Boundary Bay for lunch the next day and we finished our anniversary weekend kidless in lynden. Amy & Bri ended up coming up and spending two days with mom. Saturday we left for the dahlia tuber sale then to El Suentio Brewery for lunch, a brisk walk in the cold wind out at birch bay and then a drink @ The Mill and dinner at Nami sushi. Our anniversary was filled with love and togetherness. We are so spoiled.
