It sounds so cliche to say that time goes by faster as you age. But I don't really have a better phrase to describe the feeling of life passing by with such haste. We have achieved such feat in the last two months it's honestly draining to try and recall/type them. I fear my future self would love to revel in the fleeted memories so I'll try to quickly list all that has we've done since my last post. THE HOUSE, oh the house. We love it. We did get all the project done. Ever last one of them. The whole list. There is no more. We are done. The house was listed on 07/19 and we are waiting for the perfect buyers to swoop in and cherish Pine St as we have over the many years. It has been a labor of love for many years and we are so happy with how it all turned out. We hope another family will as well. All of this hard work came to a stop right before we had our first open house because Nate got very ill. We thought he was having a summer flu including vertigo but it turns out he was having a reaction to his slew of vaccinations (the first in his life). He received them in preparation for his work trip to Kazakhstan. The same weekend as our first open houses we had our good friend Galen and his girlfriend Allie come up and keep us company. They were a real treat in preparing the house! Allie jumped in and cleaned the entire upstairs and Galen tended to the garden and cleaned the kitchen. I don't think we would have met our deadline if it wasn't for them! Our open houses were a success. We had 18 families come through but no bites....it takes time. After a series of open houses we opted to have our friend list the house and we went off and camped with our friends up at Saxon. Oh how we love camping up there! Since Nate was set to leave the following week he let me float the river both Saturday and Sunday and he played with the girls. They kids swam, ate, and played in the woods. Things kids dream of doing! The following Wednesday mom and the girls drove Nate to the airport and off he went. The girls and I then headed the following weekend down to Brittany's baby shower...she's having a little boy in October and then we headed off to the Great Wolf Lodge. It was our first time. It was soooo much fun. The girls loved it. I loved it. I can't wait to go back again. We brought out cousin Jessica Hubbard and Claire with us. I would do it again with them in a heart beat! I can't wait to go back with Nate soon! Not much time passed after we got back from GWL and the girls and I were headed to the Fair! We kept with our annual tradition of going opening day and it did not disappoint. I honestly think this year was the best. Probably because I didn't have an infant and I wasn't pregnant! HA! It wasn't crazy busy and the weather was mild and then lovely in the later afternoon. Then this past weekend we spent the better part of the day at Birch Bay. The weather was PERFECT. The tide pools were warm and the clouds covered the worst of the suns rays. It was divine. After a sufficient amount of time playing at the beach we quickly went home to freshen up and then headed to the Lydia Place Concert on the Green in Barkley. The kids danced for hours and I enjoyed a lovely IPA with some friends. We have stayed busy busy and as exhausted as I am I would not have it any other way. We are in the home stretch of summer and preparing for school. Gwyn will be in 4th grade, Gabby will be in kindergarten and Georgia will be starting part time pre-school. The girls will be doing dance, piano, soccer and swimming. We aren't slowing down a bit just changing our focus with the season. With all this we bought my tickets to Ireland yesterday. I leave in 9 days. Lol. I guess this is how you make transatlantic adventures? Last minute and for the most amount of money possible? Good gravy. Well, the pay off is seeing the love of my life and spending some time together. I feel slightly more guilt this time than in other times as we will be gone for a full week. I already miss my babies and I haven't even gone anywhere. I can't wait until our unit is a little bit older and we can start traveling on far off adventures with them. I was only 5 years old than Gwyn when I made my first visit to Europe. I intend on taking her when she's 14 to have a glimpse at what life is really all about. I recall being in awe at the world. I still think that trip had a profound impact on my sense of self and empathy towards others...I will share this with my girls.
Crazy to think it's been 20 years since we said our vows on that stormy rainy day in March. This year we had plans to get a hotel in Lynnwood and galavant around Seattle for a few days. We ended up going to Herb Niemans on our anniversary, then to Boundary Bay for lunch the next day and we finished our anniversary weekend kidless in lynden. Amy & Bri ended up coming up and spending two days with mom. Saturday we left for the dahlia tuber sale then to El Suentio Brewery for lunch, a brisk walk in the cold wind out at birch bay and then a drink @ The Mill and dinner at Nami sushi. Our anniversary was filled with love and togetherness. We are so spoiled.
