Growing

I think its funny that when pregnant we count time in weeks and up until 3 months old we continue to count in weeks.  Its 3 months we stop counting weeks right?  We don't say my babies are 26 weeks when they're 6 months.  Ha!  Its crazy how fast time is flying by.  Gabby's personality is really starting to blossom.  Thinks she likes: mom, nursing, being held, going on walks, getting her diaper changed, and she's starting to like being swaddled again.
Thinks she dislikes: pacifiers any and all kinds, swings, being swaddled (kinda), being alone and pacifiers. Ha!

Gwyn's personality has been budding as well.  When I picked her up from school on Friday her teacher told me that she had to put her in "time out" to do her school work because she wouldn't stop interrupting her classmates who where trying to work.  She said she also wouldn't stop singing.  Mrs. Brann said, "You know how much she loves to entertain..." This solidified it for me.  She's MY daughter.  She's mini me.  We're in for it.  This won't be easy.  I'm not sure how my mom dealt with my energy.  One thing I know is that Gwyn needs sleep.  Like 12 hours a night plus a nap still.  Again,  she may not look like me but that's my personality to a "T".  (Honestly I still like 10+ hours of sleep). We are working on showering her with the love and attention she craves and focusing on all the positive things she's doing.  Its so easy to point out the things that she needs to work on or what she did wrong.  I think that focusing so much in the things she needs to work on feeds her need for attention but in a negative light.  For instance I wanted to tell Nathan about the school incident while we were driving in the car, with her, and get his parental take on her behavior.  Instead I waited until we were alone without her.  This way she's not getting attention for doing something naughty.  Instead we talked about how we both could do a better job at providing her with positive feedback for the good behavior choices she makes rather than constantly tell her how she needs to improve.  Oh the life!

20th Anniversary

Crazy to think it's been 20 years since we said our vows on that stormy rainy day in March.  This year we had plans to get a hotel in Lynnwood and galavant around Seattle for a few days. We ended up going to Herb Niemans on our anniversary, then to Boundary Bay for lunch the next day and we finished our anniversary weekend kidless in lynden. Amy & Bri ended up coming up and spending two days with mom. Saturday we left for the dahlia tuber sale then to El Suentio Brewery for lunch, a brisk walk in the cold wind out at birch bay and then a drink @ The Mill and dinner at Nami sushi. Our anniversary was filled with love and togetherness. We are so spoiled.

Gestational diabetes

Two weeks ago I took the one hour glucose test and failed it so I had to go due the dreaded 3 hour fasting glucose test.  It's horribly awful. You drink 100 milligrams of sugar on a fasting stomach and then get poked times to test you blood glucose levels.  Since I was positive for GD with Gwyn I went straight to the 3 hour test with Gabby and passed!  I was feeling pretty confident that I'd pass this time and I DID hallelujah!  All my numbers came back within range. I'm still keeping a close eye on my carb/sugar intake as I know how that can pack on the pounds for both baby and me.  So far I'm up 8 pounds. I was hoping to only gain ten thus whole pregnancy and that's still my goal.  I was 10 lbs heavier than I was when I got pregnant with Gabby and I gained 20 lbs with her so I figure that it's only appropriate that I keep my total gain to ten.  MUST KEEP COUNTING CALORIES. Ugh.  I don't find it easy like other women to loose wait after baby. If ...

Down time

All my life I've kept busy. I'm a busy person. I feel more at peace when I'm busy. The one downside to the consitency that is busyness is that often random thoughts will enter my mind about projects, bills, fundraisers, events, aka..other things I could be doing with my time. As quickly as I think of the ideas its on it's way to lala land....I started keeping a journal when I was in college so that whenever one of those ideas would enter my mind I could capture it. My "to do" journal is full of these fun ideas. Right now in my life I have a whole lot of free time that I don't know what to do with and where or where could my journal be...??? I can't find it. I feel lost without it. I have all this time now and I don't know what to do with myself. Before I know it I will be so busy with the agency I wont even have time to write. So I sit here (keeping myself busy) hoping that some of those glorious thoughts will enter my mind. Once I re...
