It's official...Gwyn slept 8 hours...twice!! The first time was 7:30pm - 3:30am two nights ago and then last night she slept from 10:30 - 6:30. Normally she eats at 10pm and then whenever she natually wakes up at night but that first night I was really tired so I decided to take a little cat nap and then wake up at 10 to feed her. That didn't happen...we both slept right through it and when she woke up at 3:30 we went about our normal routine and then I remembered I didn't wake up at 10pm. I asked Nate if he woke up and he said no...he thought I had fed her! What a feet!! We've been working so hard with her feedings...we've been following the teachings of Babywise and The Happiest Baby on the Block. We've modified both to fit Gwyn and our lifestyles. We don't stop everything becuase its "time" to eat, but we try to plan her feedings along with what we're doing. So if we're going to go on a trip we try to feed her before we leave and then are prepared for subsequesnt feedings every 2 1/2 - 3 hours there after. In HBB they recommend swaddling fussy babies...this worked up until about 3 weeks ago and now Gwyn likes to stretch and kick. We find that by keeping her on a solid feeding schedule her fussiness usually is a result of her being sleepy or tired of being in the same position (lately she fusses if we put her on her back...she really likes to stand or sit up) so we rarely use the 5 S's anymore...For instance, today she wokeup at 6:30am and ate. I then woke her up at 10am eat. The rest of the day we played, napped, talked, went to town, and hung out all following our family feeding schedule. What a blessing it is to know that my baby is full and happy :) I remember back to when she was first born and being so scared that she wasn't getting enought food, sleep, attention etc. They say knowing is half the battle and for us it was more like 95%.
With the New Year came a three day long weekend. We were supposed to go to Aunt Betsy's house for New Years, but Nate was too tired to go...not quite sure what from, but nothing I said would get him to change his mind. We rang in the New Year quietly in our little home...just the three of us. To start out the year I made a bread starter from my all time favorite cookbook The Joy of Cooking. I figured it would be a good time to start it...my goal is to keep it going all year long. So far I've made cinnamon rolls and french bread from it. This was the best French bread I've ever made!! It was so good it didnt need butter!!
Other goals for 2010....

- Put in new hardwood floors in house.
- Re-landscape the back yard so Gwyn has a yard to play in
- Continue to breast feed unitl Gwyn is atleast 1
- loose 40lbs...I hate even thinking I have 40 lbs to loose!! I only have 6lbs of babyweight left to loose...the rest is all me!
- have a sucessful profitable year with my business
- go to Boston with all the AMFAM agents in July
- keep blogging atleast twice a month
- switch soley to cloth diapers
- find an economical and organic farm to feed my family from. I have a client that has a CSA farm that I'm thinking of joining. It's a big initial investment, but the subsiquent savings and quality of the food our superior to anything from the local grocer.
