We are so very happy to announce the birth of our beautiful little girl Gwyneth Ruth. She was born October 29th, 2009 at the Bellingham Birth Center. She weighed in at 9lbs 1oz and was 20 inches long. We had quite a long hard labor but it was all worth it in the end.
It all started Tuesday the 27th at 10:00pm. Nate and I took Sophie for a walk and while we were on our walk I had three contractions...I wasn't aware at the time that I was having contractions until we got home and I was having a hard time moving around. After about 20 minutes of contractions I told Nate that I thought this was going to be it...our little girl would be here soon. We called our wonderful doula Tonya Gilday and informed her of our process. After laboring at home for about 4 hours we decided it was time to head into the birthcenter. We got there around 5am and my midwife checked me and I was at 2.5 cent dialated so they sent us home. They like to see you at 4 cm before coming in to the birth center. So on we went back to Lynden. This time Tonya came with us and we labored at home until about 10am when the contractions started to get longer and stronger. The darn road contstruction on the guide was the worst!! Bump bump bump through every contraction, but Nate was absolutely amazing!! I don't know if I could have done it without him! He is the most AMAZING man I know and I absolutely LOVE him to pieces!! To give you the shortened version, as I was in labor for a total of 30 hours, Gwyneth was malposition meaning her back was laying along my back and made for very painful contractions. After about 28 hours of labor and the midwifes trying many different techniques to get her to turn she finally turned. From the moment I felt her turn to delivery was 45 minutes. Nate was such a trooper and was there to actually catch her as she came out!! What an amazing daddy our little girl has!!
We are so thankful for the amazing midwives from the birthcenter. They guided us through the labor process and were a constant source of comfort! I can not say enough about how magical the experience was and how greatful Nate and I are.
Here are a some pictures that I took at about 7:30pm the night of the 27th...little did I know these were to be the last baby bump pictures we'd take :)

Going home after a very long labor...she was soo tired. She slept for almost 10 hours after birth.
